I thought this would be right up my street but I just didn't love any of the stories. There were some I enjoyed or thought were good, but nothing amazing or that I really connected with, and several that I read and just thought "?" at. So disappointing really. And looking back at the list there aren't many stories that I can remember much about at all.
I'm sure some people will love this, but just not for me really. The only one I really liked and remember clearly was the Ali Smith one.

i am left feeling mad as in actionable and powerful and mad that our lot is either to be complacent or mad. i don't know where that really puts me.

A collection of short stories from a range of authors on women, the harridans, the sirens and the spitfires!

I particularly loved the foreword:

"Warning - this is a book of wild writing. If you are a woman please make sure you are up to it. Have you girded your loins? Quelled your hysteria? Asked your husbands permission?"

As with most short story collections there will always be favourites and stories I've enjoyed less so! Particular ones  enjoyed with Tygress, Fury and Termangent. Some authors have a writing style I just don't vibe with as much (sorry Kirsty Logan!). As always I think short story collections are excellent ways of dipping your toe into a bunch of different authors to see what you might like.

Overall excellent!

This book had such good potential but felt a little disappointing. Some stories were really engaging and impactful, namely Siren, Tygress and Dragon. Others felt rushed and disconnected. A worthwhile read but I’m not sure short story collections are for me.
