Okay, I don’t know there is going to be spoilers so I’m just taking it on to be safe.
Loved the book, though I didn’t fell in love with it as I did the first one.
It was a bit boring at times, for my taste anyway. The only thing that is nagging the hell out of me, is why Nico and Tristan didn’t go to Fowler and make him take her back. Or if I have misunderstood something about them not know Fowler a powers then why not see if Fowler really were a time traveler so they then could use him to get her back instead of hoping that she would make a nuclear bomb. I don’t know if I have missed something that would explain it since I heard it on audiobook, and was doing something while listening to it. So that may explain why. Otherwise I found the book kind of unnecessary since the plot was really meh. The characters were fantastic.that was also why I read it to the end. Loved all the characters- kind of. Liked the first book much better than this one though.

Reason it wasn’t a 5 star read was bc it was a bit slow to me. Now that could’ve been my fault for not being fully in the book when reading a lot of the time but still it felt a bit slow. Nonetheless the story was amazing and the twists and turns had me shook. I don’t know how I’m supposed to survive till next year before I get to read the third book but I’ll have to manage. I love this world and the idea that there’s magic and secret societies with so much knowledge. I can’t wait to see how their journeys will continue. And also the end😱😱 no way! I wanna say this: FINALLY!! And: it made me so happy and so intrigued for the next book.

Really liked the first one, this one not so much. Maybe my taste has changed, it’s been a year after all, or maybe it’s just not as good. For me this book is too pretentious, like it’s trying to info dump on purpose. If I wanted to read something hard to understand, I would read an actual physics book or a philosophy essay. This book is trying to be that, while being a fantasy book and a Secret History variant, but it doesn’t do it well. The characters are trying so hard to be morally grey and nuanced, but they’re just unrealistic and most of the time annoying. Nobody talks or behaves like they do. I get that it is part of the point, that power has made them insane and detached from the world, but it’s honestly tiring. The only relationships I liked (Tristan and Callum, Libby and Nico, Gideon and Nico) were overshadowed by stuff I had no interest in, and honestly, most of the links beteen the characters didn’t really seem to make sense or have any purpose. Too much unnecessary and uncomfortable sex too. This book wants to do too much and therefore does nothing well.
I will say, though, some quotes in there were really smart and beautiful, shame they had to be mixed up in what was mostly an inefficient and quite boring story.
Olivie Blake is obviously a smart and talented writer, I just wished this book had clearer purpose. It is also quite niche so maybe it wasn’t for me but yeah, I wasn’t a fan.
Ps: Shoutout to Belen for being the best character ever.

I definitely do feel like I missed out on some things, like I was out of the loop or maybe I just didn’t get the subtle context clues that were provided. I also was hoping that we’d get Libby back sooner than we did, but I get why we didn’t. Can’t wait for the inevitable Tristan/Libby reunion! There were also some questions that arose in the first book that we didn’t get an answer to in the follow up. So I have to wait even longer to get answers to questions raised two books ago? That’s a little annoying. Overall, I couldn’t put this down. I really like this book and can’t wait for the next one.

Oh my god?!?
I enjoyed reading the first book more but holy shit I still loved this one so much.
I mostly was less convinced by all the philosophising this time. That was the part that really got me into the first book. But now I got into the character dynamics and the chaos of it all. I also actually like some of the characters now and considering they're all designed to be assholes that's an accomplishment. And I was rewarded in my favourite shipping!! I didn't dare to hope for it because so many characters are set up to potentially have some romantic and/or sexual relationship.
Honestly, their relationship dynamics were all over the place and I was here for it.

I will need to read this again because if anything, it got even more confusing and complex - but I loved it! there were some very interesting dynamics in this book; I love blake’s imagination and writing style; but it can be a bit exhausting (worldbuilding is still quite a mystery too).

nevertheless I can’t wait for the sequel, it’s going to be very very interesting!

It's difficult for me to know where to begin when it comes to this book.

There is so much that took place over the course of 400 pages and to be honest, it's a bit overwhelming. While I struggled a little bit with getting through The Atlas Six due to the slower pacing and the somewhat confusing narrative, I really struggled through this sequel. Not because I wasn't enjoying it (I enjoyed it thoroughly), but because the pacing felt even slower and the plot felt even more confusing.

Normally, I don't feel like an unintelligent human, but these books make me feel like I'm back in high school, attempting to learn a new subject I know nothing about. They're filled with such intelligent and creative writing that my brain breaks a little bit while reading.

That being said, I did really love the story. Since Libby is my favorite character, I really enjoyed how she was such a huge part of the plot. I personally felt as though she was a massive part of the plot in the first book, but it was elevated in this sequel. She was so necessary for the plot to actually take place the way it did.

This installment definitely felt heavy on the character development versus the world-building. It gave us an insider perspective on what was happening in everyones' heads (mostly thanks to Parisa). I'm honestly just fascinated by the way each of these characters operates. They're so dysfunctional and chaotic and yet somehow such geniuses. It's mindblowing.

Mostly, I just look forward to finding out what happens next. These books leave me on the edge of my seat.
