Memnoch the Devil is largely hated in relation to the rest of Anne Rice’s novels, but is far better than people give it credit for. Large sections of it are fascinating, and the general reading experience of it is enjoyable. But I never want to read about Lestat drinking period blood from a pad ever again.

I'm reading through the entire Vampire Saga and at this point I'm just tired of Lestat being a big, yelly crybaby who r*pes in one book and finds his absolution in the next, just because he has self-doubts and anxiety. I'm also tired of how much the adolescent, or child-like appearances of the characters are mentioned and sexualised.
This book in particular struck a really weird note with the whole god vs. devil thing, it was just confusing and uninspired. It read like a bad fanfiction.
I think the first 3 books should've wrapped up the series but alas.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly. It is a mixture of vampires and a distorted view of the bible that could easily be convincingly true. I definitely recommend. 4.5 stars.

This is Bible fanfic that simps for the devil. Lestat is basically sidelined while he sits to listen to the devil write his Bible au.

And the menstrual vampire at the very end for absolutely no reason? Wtf.
