I really connected with this book and absolutely loved how the characters were portrayed. With a lot of YA contemporary, I feel like authors forget that teenagers are people and not just a stereotype; these authors really allowed their characters to explore what it means to be human and where their place in the world is. If you want a well written story of wlw & mlm solidarity, new friendship, old friendship, blossoming love, and discovery that you don’t need a partner to be happy, this is the book for you !!!

I had a free day in San Francisco and none of my friends were available, so I had a solo day of touristing, and I just clicked on the audiobook I'd randomly downloaded before I left for the West Coast. what serendipity that this book was set in SF and about two gay teenagers as they come to terms with coming out and young love--and I was walking to the infamous Folsom Street Fair! the characters kept me company while i wandered around. the story was a little simplistic and had all the groan-worthy trappings of idealistic young love, but it was a perfectly entertaining background to my day.

listened at 1.8 or 2x speed.

I did it!! It took a while and I'm not so sure I actually liked the book but I did it!!! I read an entire book in Spanish! Yay me! 🎉

And yeah also the plot felt a bit rushed and a bit weird and all that but whatever maybe I'll reread it in English some day just to see how much I missed (I doubt it was that much though).

3.5 because it reminded me how my experience with pride has evolved for the better. Cute story, but I’m not sure there was enough there for a 4 or 5.

I went into this book not knowing much, besides from the fact that the two main characters were both part of the LBGT+ community. It's not the first homosexual novel that I have read, though I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I found myself not really liking any of the characters within the novel all that much, with their being too much unnecessary drama and I think if the book had been any longer I would have opted to not finish it. It's great that there is getting to be more LBGT+ books out there for readers, though I found this one didn't quite give enough. I found it was written so plainly and not all that much really happened.
