The first part of this book was interesting and really brought my focus on it, the second half was so much less so it was slightly embarrassing to read. I expected a book called “Rodham “ to be more politically astute, barring that, I hoped that it would focus on only the personal, but I suppose given the subjects that wasn’t a possibility. Still, the book lost its most interesting elements in the back half for me

I have a lot of thoughts. As a 20 something Australian with little knowledge of the intricacies of the American political system, especially in the nineties and early naughties, this book simultaneously went above my head and intrigued me. I enjoyed it enough to feel such joy with the ending. Bills an ass, Donald's representation seemed very accurate (and infuriating that she allowed his support). I enjoyed this

Yet another book that I picked up having no idea what it was about. I mean, one can guess from the title, but one could be very wrong. I thought this was biographical, so was I in for a surprise when it turned out to be an alternate history of Hillary’s life.

It was definitely interesting. But I also felt a little uncomfortable/voyeuristic reading a fictional account about two very real public figures. There was just enough glimmer of truth in Bill’s bad behavior to have you wonder if reality is closer to fiction. The second half of the book slowed for me, but I still enjoyed briefly living in this alternative universe where U.S. political and presidential history since 1992 went in an entirely different direction, especially the 2016 election. As a Californian, I also appreciated Jerry Brown’s stint (only mentioned in passing) as president in this parallel world.

An interesting thought experiment, and I normally really love Sittenfeld’s writing, but this just didn’t capture me in the same way that Prep and American Wife did.

I literally never thought I’d be so invested in an alternate reality fiction novel about Hillary Clinton.
