Nothing spectacular. I did enjoy being back in the Rose Code world a bit. An interesting little listen.

I wanted to love this book as it was written by two of my favorite writers, but I felt it just missed the mark.
In Smoke Signal, I was reintroduced to Osla Kendall from The Rose Code and Agatha Christie from The Mystery of Mrs. Christie. The blending of these two worlds could have been magical, espionage and a mystery writer, how could you go wrong, but it just didn't have that spark for which these two writers are known. I feel that with this storyline, the authors could have gone so much deeper, but alas, it was a novella and not a full novel, so it left me wanting.
While this is not on my all-time favorites list, it is still a good story about two amazing real-life women who served their country in a time of war.

Fun novella revisiting characters from a book I thoroughly enjoyed. I have read The Rose Code, but have yet to read The Mystery of Mrs. Christie. I am looking forward to reading that book soon.

A rarely unpromoted (seemingly) crossover short story exclusively available on audio via Audible Originals, the ever-expanding collaboration between Audible and bestselling authors. The program allows subscribers access “free” to these exclusive extra stories by their favorites. In the extraordinary case of Smoke Signal, authors Kate Quinn (The Rose Code) and Marie Benedict (The Mystery of Mrs. Christie) create an intersection for two characters to share tea and swap war-time secrets (sort of). The same audio version narrators perform their duties, outstandingly, thereby taking the listener back into the books’ semi-historical worlds. A scrummy “what if….” treat for fans of either authors’ book.
