I do really love Evelyn as a companion. She's a great foil for the Sixth Doctor's personality.

A rather nifty story of the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn in sixties London, dealing with vampires. Some nasty violence though.

Quite aggravating how a good deal of the plot seems to depend on the stupidity of the main characters.

If you'd have told teenaged me that one day I would be looking forward to Colin Baker's performances as the Doctor more than any other, I'd have thought you mad. And yet, here we are. Mr. Baker, in these audio dramas, has that rare ability to elevate poor material on his own back. And Maggie Stables' Evelyn Smyth is the other fist of that one-two punch. They are a delight.
This script is not. It belongs to that category of plot that inolves sticking two disparate elements together and calling it good.
Vampires and Gangsters. So not good.
But the Doctor and Evelyn are good enough to make this worth a listen.
