I have loved every single one of B.A. Paris’ works and this is no exception. Very similar in tune as Bring Me Back. While I groaned in the middle of the book at what I thought was a “predictable” twist - I was completely wrong. The last three chapters threw me on my head in the best way possible.

Alice and her partner, Leo, move into the lovely gated community known as The Circle.  Shortly after moving in, Alice learns that the former resident, a therapist named Nina, was murdered in the home.  Domestic upset, challenging relationships with neighbors, and amateur sleuthing ensues.

I really enjoyed this book.  It very much kept me guessing until the end; I was convinced everyone in The Circle was guilty of killing Nina at one time or another throughout the novel.  The characters, both central and ancillary, were very well developed compared to many other books I’ve read recently in this genre.  I received an audio galley from #netgalley and #macmillian.audio, and the narration was excellent.  The narrator, Olivia Dowd, expressed the confusion and fear that Alice experienced wonderfully.  If you are looking for a gripping, keep-you-guessing-til the-last-page summer thriller, make The Therapist your next read!

Thank you #netgalley, #stmartinspress, and #macmillian.audio for a copy of the digital and audio ARCs in exchange for a fair and honest review.

When Alice and Leo move into their new home in the circle, they're both thrilled. As she starts to get to know her neighbors, she starts to uncover some secrets that happened in her own home. A terrible tragedy - a murder has taken place in her home, specifically in her very room. When a stranger turns up a party asking her what she knows about what happened in her home, she finds herself digging deeper - and realizing that something about it doesn't sit quite right.

This book was a little slow to start and lulled in the middle, we're introduced to a lot of the fellow members living in the circle - I felt like I needed a character map of who was who. As the mystery starts to unfold, the ending becomes a bit predictable. At times I felt myself yelling out loud at Alice since it seemed a little obvious that she was putting her trust in the wrong people, in the end, there was a bit of a twist that I hadn't seen coming and did make me enjoy the end of the book. Overall, I think the last 20% of the book really saved it as it's when most of the action happened.
