A fun and quick read, though the main character’s monologues sometimes felt a bit much. Also I didn’t think anyone who was more than two dimensional was likable. And every major character was white, I don’t understand readers who are is saying this book is diverse.

This book was very twee, and had a character driven story. There’s a lot underneath the surface of the book, and an unsettling feeling permeates the book providing a steady pace to a thrilling finish.

I love this book. I'm a fan of B.A. Paris's work. The previous book she wrote weren't that great. They weren't bad either. Those books weren't Behind Closed Doors level of amazing. The Therapist certainly was. I was right there with Alice throughout the entire book. And that twist. Incredible. I was left in shock that I didn't see that twist happen. The Therapist was impossible to put down. It was excellent, a real page-turner. The book was fast paced, engaging and suspenseful.

This book did have a surprise ending but the middle seems to drag on. The main character
ends up accusing pretty much everyone and it honestly is a bit annoying
. The end did surprise me though

Alice and her partner, Leo, move into the lovely gated community known as The Circle.  Shortly after moving in, Alice learns that the former resident, a therapist named Nina, was murdered in the home.  Domestic upset, challenging relationships with neighbors, and amateur sleuthing ensues.

I really enjoyed this book.  It very much kept me guessing until the end; I was convinced everyone in The Circle was guilty of killing Nina at one time or another throughout the novel.  The characters, both central and ancillary, were very well developed compared to many other books I’ve read recently in this genre.  I received an audio galley from #netgalley and #macmillian.audio, and the narration was excellent.  The narrator, Olivia Dowd, expressed the confusion and fear that Alice experienced wonderfully.  If you are looking for a gripping, keep-you-guessing-til the-last-page summer thriller, make The Therapist your next read!

Thank you #netgalley, #stmartinspress, and #macmillian.audio for a copy of the digital and audio ARCs in exchange for a fair and honest review.
