A magnificently informative recollection of thanotourism by Caitlin Doughty. I would highly recommend this book to anybody experiencing death anxiety or just  interested in learning about different death cultures.

This is a good read to learn more about mourning and death rituals of other cultures. I thought it was a valuable read but I just didn’t get as much from it as much as her other book I’ve previously read (will my cat eat my eyeballs?). It had some heartfelt moments don’t get me wrong but it felt like it could have said a bit more.

the idea of death in the western world, america especially, is a very daunting one. caitlin does an excellent job of showing that it doesn't need to be. while i personally wish she had gone into deeper detail (especially of the indonesian death rituals) it doesn't take away from the book that she didn't.
