Half biography, half advice book. His writing is pretty fun (in a British scoundrel sort of way) and it meanders between some advice (do it now, no half measures) and the history of publishing industry ups and downs. I enjoyed it!

This book can be summarized as ideas you probably know deep down but never actually bothered to confront about the concept of getting rich. The book is philosophical on some fronts but does so in a witty and sarcastic manner and overall a very enjoyable read.

There are lots of entrepreneurs online that recommend this book as a must read. Dennis is a bootstrap entrepreneur, the Megamind behind the popular men’s magazine Maxim. However, it is not that good and Dennis’s style is pretty straightforward: work hard, be bold when making deals, confidence, and execution. “The key, I think, is confidence. Confidence and an unshakable belief it can be done and that you are the one to do it.” There isn’t much to it, according to Dennis. However, he makes some really good points about time, the most valuable resource available to all men. Time is critical, so execution is key. Never give in and surround yourself with enormous talent. And never stop learning:
"Anyone not busy learning is busy dying. For as long as you foster a willingness to learn, you will ward off sclerosis of the brain and hardening of the mental arteries. Curiosity has led many a man and women into the valley of serious wealth.”

Well, this was an interesting read. Felix Dennis' How to Get Rich is filled with harsh humor but acknowledged details from his personal perspective on how to get rich. This British lad states most of them as 'facts'. Now I know you have to be somewhat heartless dickhead to get rich and cut loose most of your friends, stop dreaming about any family life (in fact, don't bother) and tons of other things. If you disagree, you will not be rich, this I got reminded about for countless times.
Why the 4 stars then? It did not actually irritate me at all, because I know the type. The book is fun, it contains lots of food for thought and even some good points. But I don't see it as the ultimate guide on how to get rich. It's more like of a story on how did Felix got rich and about his particular mindset that everyone else who wants to be rich should obtain, unless they don't want to get rich, that is.
Good, challenging, witty book overall. Read as part audiobook and ebook. Both brilliant.

Really loved it, a fun lighthearted biography! I'd compare it to the great memoir of Shoe Dog (Nike founder).

Definitely not your typical self-help business book. Felix is frank and doesn't mix words. Polarizing too, but I wish there were more of those kind of books. A little repetitive on the keypoints, but the stories are unique. The 8 rules of getting rich is a good distillation but I doubt it counts for anything the reader wouldn't already know, but Felix has a way of drilling them in. Some counterintuitive advice, like on ownership (especially in today's VC infested world), why not to get rich.
