*read for a tween book club*

i preferred this story more than i survived #1 because this story felt more fleshed out and concise. i also thought barry was very strong and had a very kind heart while dealing with the stress of a natural disaster and being separated from his family.

In third grade we teach historical fiction as one of our genres. I always read an “I Survived” book to my students when we introduce it. They love these books and so do I!

I can see why the kids at the library love this series so much. It has nothing vit adventure and isn't long. I enjoyed the book, but didn't love it. The action scenes were well written though.

Another solid installment in this series! I think a young reader would really be able to tell what it was like going through such a terrorizing event.

This was a very eye-opening read, and I felt it was pretty realistic too! Such an insight into the events of the hurricane back in 2005. I was terrified when
Spoilerhe was ripped off the roof by the wind
and also when
Spoilerhe saw that house coming at him when he was gripping the tree trunk.
I loved the family dynamic to this story, the way the dad
Spoilerplayed music to the sound of the wind, and how he comforted them.
I'm glad they were reunited.

This is a really good short book that captures the horrors of Hurricane Katrina. I've decided to read this to my 2nd graders when we start our unit on air and weather.

I definitely see why this is a Beehive Award nominee. Great little read. Gripping.

A fast and adventurous read with some factual information at the end. I totally see why middle grade readers are as into this series as my patrons.
