a fun book. took me a bit to actually like the characters, but once i softened up to them i loved them. love the three gays in a big gay van taking a road trip across the country. despite focusing on death a lot, this book was actually really cute and hopeful.

It’s not your typical easy going romance. The teacher these two women love who really saw them is dying and they have to take him on his dying wish of a roadtrip and for them to go from enemies to lovers. It’s a hard read to have a love story and a death story put together but it’s well done. I think I would have preferred something fluffier based on the cover but I heard the theme of live your life to the fullest. Message received. Letting people love you and letting go of control. Always important to remember.

It took a little bit to get going for me, but once it did I was truly in it. The story is so beautiful in itself and the characters are all incredible and relatable.
For me, Rosemary hit incredibly close to home on several points. I did not annotate this, but there were some passages in here of which I actually dogeared the pages to come back to at a later time. That made this book extra special to me.
Nothing but love for this one. Of course it made me cry, of course it made me laugh. An absolute gem of a book as I had hoped and expected from this author. I cannot wait to read more.

I found the two main characters to be a bit unlikable at first but they really grew on me and the other characters and the overall plot more than made up for it. I loved the character development and the relationships between the characters and I even found myself tearing up at some points which almost never happens to me with media. I will say that the first-name fucking last-name as a curse got old fast but overall this was a really enjoyable, emotional, moving story.

The cursing with queer icon names was almost too much for me lmao, but I'm happy I stuck with this book.

I love when a writer is able to capture the joy and safety in queer spaces like drag shows. Its such a good and important feeling.

The final act of this book was sad, but I liked it.

I think the pacing was good even though I was afraid things would get tiring with the personality clashes. I liked the representation of neurodivergency too, it didn't feel like a Tumblr excerpt about ADHD.

Look, I know "road-trip romance about death" doesn't really sound like a great time, but this book is better than that (accurate!) tagline would imply (modulo content warnings, of course; take care of yourself). My favorite Cochrun so far.

While at its core, this is a book about death, it's also about life and living it to the fullest. I appreciated the way that ADHD and anxiety were discussed in this book, and neither character was reduced to just that. There's also a lot of talk about grief, about growing up, and about taking risks. An emotional ride, but definitely worth it.
