I love a good small town romance, and Marigold and Cade's story was great! This one was definitely intense/emotional as they deal with the grief of Cade's mother (and pseudo-mom to Marigold) passing away, but also the ramifications of the fall out of their relationship years ago. This is Mare's first time back in her small town after her best friend's brother aka Cade broke her heart when she left for college. Honestly, at times I wanted to scream at Cade for his hostility toward Mare after he literally broke up with her! But seeing them reconnect and support each other during this incredibly difficult time and see how they always loved each other in their own ways was so sweet. Highly recommend it if you're looking for an angsty, romance read! :)

I'm usually a sucker for cheesy love stories but this one just didn't do it for me. I never got sucked in with the romance.

It felt like we didn't get a proper build up of longing and the special moments, they were just implied and went straight to them having an undeniable connection that I just couldn't get into.

I wanted to DNF halfway through and skimmed the last 100 pages purely because I hate DNFing. Missed the mark.

Cute story. A little too repetitive for me. The same thing being reiterated over and over. I did cry. These stories always get me. Loss, a message. Done! Cute read. Enjoyed.

I did not enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. After the beginning, which was mainly about the main characters dealing with loss and was tough to read, there was almost constant bonking between them. There were 10 back-to-back chapters set in the past and present where they were going at it. And then they broke up after I had to read about all that sex. And then got back together in the present to bonk some more. It was just a bit too much for me.

tropes: best friend's brother, part of a series, small town, second chance, cowboy/rancher, childhood friends to lovers

content warnings: discussions of loss of family members

Ok. Let’s chat.
This book has been on my TBR since it released and I was trying to wait for the rest of the books to be out before I started it. So many of my friends have read it and loved it so my hopes were pretty high for this book. Period Sadly, it didn’t live up to the height for me. Our MMC was more of an angry toddler most of the time and couldn’t make up his mind of what to do with me when they were younger. And then when they did reunite, it was almost overnight going from pushing her away to being territorial. Which usually I’m down for. But it didn’t flow as well as other hooks have for me. Also, I love me a spicy book, but I feel like there were so much that it took away from the rest of the story and the importance of their conversations and reconciliation. I would’ve liked a little bit more balance. I did like the family and enough of this book to want to continue the series. I am excited to read Pippa‘s book.
