I am so mad at this. I love the dynamic between Drew and Trent and love the whole plot line about racing and the frat drama.  But this has the worst case of unchecked casual misogyny and sexism I've ever seen in any book.  I'm pretty sure that this author either went to the worst college and hung out with the worst guys or she thinks that every single college guy is despicable. You can't get through a single chapter without at least 3 awful comments.

Example: at one point there's a very important female driver and people are spewing sexism to her face and not once does she ever call them out and not once does any character around them call them out. Despite the fact that in the previous chapter Drew and Trent talked about how hard she has it as a woman in professional racing.  During an interview with the reporter, Drew is confronted with a topic he doesn't like and so he remarks "she's clearly single for a reason" because godforbid a woman speaks her mind. At another point Drew calls out his own sexist thoughts and then does nothing about it and continues to have the same thoughts over again. If that's not stellar character growth I don't know what it is 🙄.

I understand that college age guys are the worst sometimes, said from personal experience, so having some degree of casual sexism such as "like a girl" or "beat by a girl"  It's makes sense but did we seriously need it to this degree? (Also these are all women with one exception for an infant so call them women already).  A few comments would have gone a long way to establishing the  environment that these characters live in but we're beat over the head with it so many times that it began to be insulting and frustrating. Sometimes I was wondering why the author would even write characters like this when they're so unlikeable.

Such an adrenaline rush to read this book.

Trent and Drew are amazing together. At first I was feeling Trent's suffering for loving his best friend for the longest time, but as soon as Drew finally realizes that he feels the same, he commits.
But more than the feels is also the backdrop to this story: indie racing. The stunts that they pulled on the road were stroke-inducing, along with the rivalry between Drew and Lorhaven.

But the tracks weren't the dirty bit, not even the part where illegal underground  betting took place.
No, the dirty bit were those pussies who jumped other people for being gay.
This book ended on a cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next issue of Gearshark!
