Jeanette Walls’ family has just provided her with such incredible writing material. Her novels and memoirs never miss

Finished this one for my book club recently. I really enjoyed this book overall and it was definitely a departure from the kinds of books I am used to. I really like how the author captures the persona of her grandmother in this book. This book was a great glimpse into life at the turn of the century and the times leading up to WWII in the American south-west. I definitely would like to read her other books after reading this one.

I really enjoyed this book, but it wasn't a must-read-cannot-put-down for me. I've read The Glass Castle so it was neat to see how Jeannette's mother grew up and to witness the familial ties (even though it is technically a novel). Also, having lived in Arizona and knowing what most of the places mentioned look like made me wish to go back. The descriptions of the landscapes are excellent.
