A brutally honest look at the struggle of sobriety in our American alcohol is every where society. The shame of attending parties with alcohol and having to say no, disintegrating of long time friendships, and the reality of blackouts - Sarah holds little back.
The amount of courage, the lack of fear for revealing her honest self - not just to millions of strangers, as a reader learns of her most intimate struggle, but also for those Sarah knows.
Inspiring, encouraging and supportive. Sarah accomplished her goal - providing a story of sobriety, pointing out the lack in our literature choices. Well done.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I've been alcohol free for 3.5 years, and was looking forward to this memoir. The writing was fine, the narrator was a little self-obsessed, but it was a memoir so mostly forgivable. I think it's good to have more stories of people finding themselves through sobriety, so ultimately it was worth the read.

I thought this was a totally nice and fine read. Every essay ended with a cutesy zinger at the end which started to wear on me as I worked through the book.

Very funny, thoughtful, and delicate writing. This book resonated with me for so many reasons. I would truly recommend this book to anyone in their 20’s or 30’s thinking about sobriety or even just looking for comfort when reflecting on the difficulties of the beginning of adulthood.
