It was a lovely book, till I read it I didn't realize how devoid of queer people dystopian books usually are. I loved the characters and their journey.

I was engaged with this book until the middle. I felt like it dipped down, and got boring. I do like the story but I felt like things should have been cut and for a good portion of it, it dragged. It also was a bit difficult to read a book about a super flu when COVID is still at our heels.

I will say the queer awakening for Jamieson was great, but boy are these boys dumb. Why did you need another character to tell you that you love each other??

Overall, a decent read. 💕

I'd been meaning to read this one, so when word of a sequel reached me, I immediately bumped it up the list.

I found this to be an easy read and immediately fell in love with our two main characters, Andrew and Jamie. With the dual POV, it was great to see these two boys learn to trust and depend on one another.

This is perfect if you're looking for a virus wiped out the majority of the global population, two queer boys find each other, those two boys decide to try and find other survivors, then have to deal with dwindling supplies, wild animals, injuries, and who people become when faced with rebuilding their world.

As much as this book has some darker moments Brown does a great job of bringing humor into the story to balance it out while not taking away from the seriousness of certain situations and the consequences that come from them.

I'm very excited to start the sequel!

A virus takes out most of the population in the US and all of Jamie's family. He his in for a rude awakening as Andrew shows up at his doorstep with a bear trap injury. That is where their journey begins but it takes them through many daunting tasks and interactions. An adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat with a romance interspersed.
