An ok read that didn't really stand out to me. It felt like it never really took off...

Couldn't put it down!

Luckily, my husband knows how to feed himself. Lance I started reading it, I couldn't stop. I loved how many different elements this story covered.

The potential was here for a great book but dear god does this book need an editor! Nothing bothers me more than having my head taken out of a story due to typos, grammar errors, story inconsistencies or writing that makes no sense. This book needs serious cleaning up and editing by an American considering it takes place in San Francisco. If you aren’t an American author then you ought to have an American editor or proofreader to fix your errors. It’s just too jarring for the story to have these inconsistencies and it’s a pet peeve of mine as to me it just indicates laziness on the author’s part.

Additionally the breaking at businesses is a key part of the story but we never get any explanation for the crimes. Makes no sense. And the whole resolution to the crimes is idiotic.

It’s too bad really as this was a good story that could have come off so much better.

Better than book one

This is better than the first book in the series but there's still annoying editing mistakes and grammatical errors where the wrong word has been used or the tense Chang's through a sentence.

There's also the same problem of everything being on the surface, there's a lot of telling but not much showing through the use of character development and relationship build up.

However, having said the above, there's also plus points. Both Kellen and Alex are believable characters, they're not perfect and they have flaws, and there was good explanation of their previous history.

The biggest problem was that everything was a bit one note. Even the drama of Kellen's parents being homophobic got smoothed over by the time of the epilogue. It isn't so much that it's not believable, more that too much was tied up in a big cheesy bow in the epilogue.
