I honestly love finding books that are quoted as being like The Hunger Games, because I know I’m either getting a tournament or dystopian and both of those are key words to making me want to read a book!

All of Us Villains is based around a competition of magic, but the competitors are chosen from 7 great families. Every 20 years, a person is chosen… and from those 7, only one can win. Oh! And did I mention that it’s TO THE DEATH?!?! Talk about suspense.

I love that we got to live through the minds of four people with multiple POV writing. Normally I like a more narrowed view, but in this case, getting to see things in more than one perspective really lent to the full effects of the games.

My fave parts were the magic use. I’ve read books with witches, magic wands, staffs… but I’ve never read a book that the magic was all done through curses worn as jewelry. All of the rings they wore were used to attack the other people. How COOOOOOOOOOOOL is that?!? I love the little things that really make a story it’s own!

Should you read this book? Hell YES!!! 1000%!!

I feel like I was betrayed by the blurb, it made sound like it was a true high fantasy but like... It's high, but also urban?
It's a really weird mix of a fictional 90's city mixed in with city politics, the morality of what the paparazzi has on teens, and the thoughts of said teens, with a death game.

I almost put this book down out of sheer betrayal that I found this book in the fantasy section but felt more of urban fantasy. I kept going with this book thinking I might learn something out of pure spite but... It's actually a well thought out book.

I'm not a fan of putting magic into rings as I felt the magic system felt gimmicky. What this book's strengths are the multiple POVs and feeling conflicting feelings when you know the other character's POV, but in reality, they're horribly misinterpreting things. Aside from my disdain of the magic system, the world is well thought out. I saw the ending coming from a mile away, but even I, who can predict nearly every ending and plot twist, has no idea how this series will end.

The only downfalls I can see are there are sometimes deus ex machina shit about things with Alistair and the namings of spells felt a bit generic and not creative.

The other thing, I don't consider bad, but people don't like the characters. I admit, I don't like Isobel either, but people forget what it was like to be a teenager, how the world feels horrible... People forget that... These are TEENAGERS, not adults, so their thought processes aren't that logical and can be skewed. I don't think this is a bad thing because it feels more realistic than the author acting like these are adults when they're not.

Still, this is a solid book, if you like the anime Fate (but not for the lore or historical fiction), this book is for you. I haven't read HG, so I can't give you an answer about this book. If you also want a different fantasy book than normal, I'd say go in this with the mind that this urban fantasy (even though it technically isn't... It's weird lol) but with all the fantasy flare.

I went into this book not really knowing much about it. I am either really late to the party or it's not very popular and I've not seen it around the book universe but either way I had a pretty good time reading it!

If I had to sum this up in only a few words I would say it's kind of like The Hunger Games but with magic! I liked that, and because of the characters it felt much more grown up.

The story is told from 4 different perspectives that swap and change every chapter. I liked this idea as it gave a much more rounded picture of what was happening and each of the heaters motivations during the story.

All the characters are morally grey and so I wouldn't really say I have a favourite, there are aspects to each that I like and aspects that I really don't but i think it makes it more fun to read that way.

I would say I wish the whole thing was darker and darker I say a bit more gruesome. Don't gete wrong there are parts that are quite bloody but I just wish there was more!!

I also felt the ending was very abrupt, doesn't bother me so much because I have the next book to dive straight into but it just sort of finished with no real cliff hanger or sort of conclusion.

Pretty good read over all and I did enjoy the ride, intrigued to see where the next story goes!!
