MOAR BOOKS.  I just finished reading “How Moon Fuentez Fell in Love with the Universe” by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland.  Beautifully written, a smart, fun, wry, and self aware main character, and some gentle magical realism.  ALSO, a whole bucket of trigger warnings (I’m sure you can find a list somewhere), teenage angst, and awkward romance.  Recommended if you are in the mood for such things.

I got recommended this book in therapy because haha... generational trauma.

This book made me feel so seen and vulnerable. so many parts of this story were so relatable to my own relationship with my latino parents and siblings. this book follows moon's journey to find love for herself and heal through trauma and grief all while dealing with her difficult mother. I enjoy that there was a romance, but it wasn't the whole point of the story, i love that it focused on so many aspects of moon's life and her relationship with other people.
