I knew nothing about the myth before starting, so I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Clytemnestra. I also loved all the cameos of mythic heroes and legends.

She’s not obviously likeable, which was refreshing. Clystemnestra is full of rage for much of the book, and spends much of the time plotting revenge. I loved how sure of herself she was, even if I didn’t always like her actions. A very strong character.

Overall slow paced with large time jumps, but an enjoyable read.
I really loved the letters in the middle of the book, I liked the window into the lives and thoughts of her loved ones and the outside perspective it gave, I would’ve loved to see more of that.

I enjoyed reading this but I think it’s my least favourite in the ‘mythology from a female perspective’ genre. It started off really slow, but began to pick up its pacing about a third of the way in. I loved the way Clytemnstra and Helen’s relationship was depicted. I think the relationships between the female characters throughout this novel is it’s most redeeming quality.

I wasn't aware of quite how dark this book would be going in - and that's on me. Combined with the slow pacing, it meant I found the middle of this book a bit of a slog, but I can appreciate it for what it is.

A favorite genre of mine is typically ignored stories of characters in Greek myths. This one doesn’t disappoint and sheds light on a misunderstood (hated) queen. Even when you know what happens, these retelling are always satisfying.

Clytemnestra is girl power, she is kick ass, she is who you want on your side. Strong and brave; a daughter, sister, mother, wife. She goes through heartbreaking things in this story which seem to just make her stronger and more determined. And this story is full of strong powerful women, girls taught how to fight and women avenging wrongs.

If you like Greek Mythology, you'll enjoy this book.

N.b. I read it at a time I was struggling with sleep and focus, which might have impacted my rating slightly, if I was in a better head space it might have been higher.
