This was an unexpectedly fun book to read. I'll definitely be reading more of her work.

I just love reading about cooking and peoples memories about food... I've never tasted her cooking - but if it's half as delicious as her prose...sign me up!

I enjoyed this book! Her life in the beginning was a little "Running with Scissors" but overall, turned into a great book!

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book and even the middle, but my interest fell off toward the end. I loved the quirkiness of Ruth and her family, but ran out of steam. The recipes were fun and I may try a few.

I enjoyed this book but I enjoyed her other book (Garlic and Sapphires) more.

I liked the fact that this book was mostly true stories and how it took place over the span of many years. I thought it was cool how she put her actual recipes she learned into the book. I actually gave this book to someone on the plane next to me when I finished it, since it was passed along to me.

I generally like to read about food. But this book just didn’t do it for me, which is unfortunate as I have had it on my self for a while. The account of life was interesting, but not what I came to this book for. I was hoping for a rich history of life told by way of food & it was more like a history of life sprinkled with food.
I rated it a 2 because it’s basically a DNF, but at 86% I don’t see much else changing in the remaining 14%.

I read this at a snails pace because I didn't ever want to finish it. Now THAT's the sign of a good book.
