i bought this audiobook right when it came out and thought it would be really interesting since it's about aliens and based from the movies. i finally started it and although i enjoyed it, it wasn't my favorite. i love that it's basically just a movie with no picture. there's multiple narrators, sound effects, and a great story behind it. i loved the suspense behind it, and loved that the person who narrates ripely, i thought she did a great job, as did the other narrators.

+ would i recommend?
yes, i would recommend to people who love science fiction and aliens, but there's a lot of language in this audio, so i should probably say if you don't like that or are too young, maybe not.

+ actual rating?
4/5

+ how did i read this?
i listened to the audible book

This was my very first Audible studios audiobook and I have to say that I had a lot of fun listening to this one!

I'm a fan of the Alien franchise and figured why not give this audiobook a shot since I got it for free off Audible. The production value was really great and the storyline was very over the top and fun. The action sequences are definitely the high light of the audio production. The voice cast is great (Rutger Hauer!) and the woman who voiced Ripley certainly sounded a lot like Sigourney Weaver. The really cool thing is that there were small touches to the story that really makes you appreciate the fact that the author really attempted to keep the tone of the first Alien movie with a mixture of Aliens action sequences.

I'm glad that this was my first (audio)book of the new year.

I listened to the Audible live action version: definitely fun and great acting. I was a little underwhelmed by the story, though. Good dialogue.

It was a pretty mid field book. Nothing particular special about it

ALIEN and ALIENS are two of my favorite science-fiction movies. (There are no other movies in the franchise. None. Do you hear me? None.)⁣

I love the intimate submarine story in the first and the all-out-war story in the second. Each, in its own way, is genre-leading in terms of film.⁣

But, like Blade Runner, I dug the not-to-subtle critique of techno-capitalism in an age when science and technology very clearly became indistinguishable from magic.⁣

So—when Audible put out a full cast story that takes place between Alien and Aliens, well, I was all in. Plus the story—which is far more ALIEN than ALIENS—pits Ellen Ripley and a group of unwitting miners against her old foes. ⁣

While the story doesn't really add much to the Alien universe—it really is a mash-up of the two movies—it's still fun as hell to be back with Ripley (although she feels a little less feminist badass in the book, but not offensively so). ⁣

I so much enjoyed the short book—only four hours and thirty-one minutes—that I made dinner, sat on my couch, and spent the evening listening to the audio play!⁣

For audio production. Apparently I can handle horror more easily as an audiobook than watching.

I was so confused at first when i listened to this book. For some reason i got i mixed up with one of the Alien movies. I kinda wished that there would have been more describtions of the areas in the book. I sometimes felt like the jumps between the characters pulled me out of the story.
But i loved the different sound effects and voices in the audiobook
