This was an Ok read for me.

Hailey is a breast cancer survivor, and Sloane is ex military with PTSD. I liked Hailey, she was a strong character and didn't let her past cancer bring her down. Sloane I didn't like as much, he spent the vast majority of the book being "woe is me", and "I am not good enough for her" The push/pull angst was a bit much, and lasted a bit to long for me considering this was just a novella.

Overall though it was an OK read.

After all this time, it's finally happened. Sloane and Haley finally decide to take a chance on each other. After all the sexual tension between these two characters, I couldn't have been more excited when they finally got their own story.

Hidden Ink is guaranteed to make you feel. As someone who has suffered from PTSD for many years, I have to start off with how impressed I was at Ms. Ryan's handing of a character suffering from this condition. It's not an easy condition to deal with and often misrepresented and misunderstood. Yet Ms Ryan approached the subject with obvious respect and understanding to the seriousness of the condition. It's a beautifully told story of friendship, self redemption, and finding love inspite of not feeling worthy of being loved in the first place.

I received an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review. I love the Midnight Ink series, and this is no exception. Carrie knows how to breathe life into beautifully damaged characters whose experiences are nothing short of real. As a person with a chronic illness (and knowing the author does as well), the themes of cancer and PTSD were vivid and heartbreaking. The chemistry has always been there between these two, while they were waiting in the wings for their moment. My only regret is that I wish this was longer, to better savor these two finally embracing their love for one another.

Boy, was I glad to go back to the Montgomery Ink World- I didn't even realize how much I was missing them, when I ended up with this book in my hands.

Hidden Ink is the story of Sloane Gordon and Hailey Monroe - two people who have been circling around each other from almost the start of this series - hence my recommendation would be that you at least have a bit of a knowledge of this series before picking up this one, otherwise you will fail to understand why is that these two needed a novella of their own :D

This is also a novella, which though suited this story, I just would have liked it to be a little longer, but that doesn't mean that there isn't enough angst and romance to rip your heart out and yet have you happy about it!

Hailey has always been in love with Sloane, not that he noticed - the jerk! But now finally after so many years, she has decided to live her life - especially considering that she has been through a lot in her life already and the fact that Sloane isn't ready yet to make a move on her, is slowly killing her - more so since almost everyday else has found their HEAs.

Sloane on the other hand, believes that he is all wrong for this beauty, someone whom he already considers his - so when he sees that the woman he considers to be his, trying to at least move on, he does everything he vowed never to do - he claims her!

This is such a beauty of a book, even if it is quite short (yeah I do not like novellas, especially for characters that I love!) - and I actually it could have been better as a full length novel. I get that these two have been circling each other for years, and so would have accepted each other no matter what their past, yet I still feel that this could have been handled with a lot more angst and sweeter romance if it had been a full length novel and that is the only issue I had with this book!

Hailey and Sloane's happily ever after was hard won. Shoot the battle had started before they'd even me. They both carried those battle scars and the weight wasn't only physical. Friends for years, they had circled around each other and fought against their inevitability. Finally giving in to their feelings, they had to put their ghosts to rest, accept their flaws, and learn to count on each other for love, support and acceptance. The characters were endearing, their stories were heartbreaking, and their beginning was beautiful.

I'm starting to think I should only read novellas. They cut all the drama of a full novel and make the characters actually talk!
