This is a quick read and a stirring collection of poetry. It includes themes of love, family, and Black culture. As with any poetry collection, some pieces struck a cord more than others, but overall it was a well-rounded, honest body of work. This collection does need to go through another round of edits, but it wasn’t so bad that the message in the poetry wasn’t there.
