As is usually the case with short stories, a mixed bag. But overall I enjoyed these. Most of them are clever, bizarre (and certainly short) stories. My favorites: Lieland, Cheesus Christ, Unzipping,Mystique [I've read this one somewhere before but I am not sure where],Black and Blue,What, of this Goldfish Would you Wish, Not Completely Alone, One Step Beyond, Joseph, and Parallel Universes. So I guess I liked most of them...

Most collections of short stories tend to be a bit hit and miss, and this one had far too many misses for me. Too many of these stories came across as throwaway, under-developed ideas.

Often there is the kernel of a good story there, but most stories are so short that they've barely established anything before they are ending in a frustratingly abrupt manner. It's like reading someone's notebook at times. Perhaps others will find some enlightenment, but most of these stories are too elusive for me.

There are some good efforts here - mostly the longer stories - but they are swamped by a sea of uninteresting dross. Three stars for the good ones, minus one for everything else. Disappointing.
