I don't know how I feel about this. The story is beautifully written but I couldn't connect to the characters and I feel like this story is missing some essence. I was definitely expecting some sort of emotional puch but the only emotion I felt was meh.

My whole entire being is spinning. I can’t even form the proper sentences to describe all that is happening inside of me. I will never forget this story, that I’m sure of. There’s so much wisdom encompassed in this book that it’s astounding and makes my head spin just seeing all of the puzzle pieces. I know exactly why I was lead to this book and I’ll always be grateful for it. This is a life-changer.

At the beginning of the book, it reads like a careless novel without much of importance. The way it’s written is almost in a detached way. Like there’s something missing. And the further you read, the more you understand the gravity of this story. Of these words. It eventually crystallizes and it hits you right in the heart. I don’t think I’ll ever read anything like this again.

| My Review | I’ve been staring at the wall, unable to articulate how I feel. It’s safe to say, this book tore me apart.

This book is written in first person present tense looking back on past events. The way this book is written (translated?) along with the fact that it's very short, prevented me from really connecting with the characters. It seemed cold and disconnected from events of a first love. Normally that type of story should really pull at the heart strings but alas, this does not. It's not even that it's bad or poorly written, it's just that it doesn't really engage the reader.
