This book is a nice, fast paced read with interesting ties to Norse mythology. For me, it was just a bit cliche and not fleshed out enough to truly dig into the story and care about the characters. It was okay.

The book ends with a cliffhanger, I would recomend getting the 2nd book in the series before ending this one.

I liked the mythology behind it, but the romance plot and Martha was just too annoying to me to really get into the book. Martha and I had a few things in common, so her constant thoughts of how ugly she was because of her eye wasn't nice to read. I kept trying to remember she's only 17, but I just couldn't move past it. Which is why I rated it so low. The actual plot with the tree was fun, and I liked the other characters, even Stig and her mom.
