This was for sure interesting. It has good points, laugh out loud moments, bare honesty, and topics that make you think. Good overall. Makes me want to look into more topics that I would like understand.

I thought this was going to be a great book detailing Shirley's life in Hollywood. It is a train wreck of a narrative that goes into all the garbage surrounding the world ending in 2012 and her "past" lives. I'm sorry I wasted my time.

I made it halfway through the book but it was grueling.

I got this book as a birthday present from a friend. I've always meant to read one of Shirley MacLaine's books and this one didn't let me down. For all intents and purposes, it lived up to my expectations of what a Shirley MacLaine book would be. She talked about her metaphysical beliefs, her travels, her sexual exploits, and her dealings with people of power (hollywood elite, political and mobster).
The metaphysical aspects of this book were interesting in both believable and unbelievable ways. By this, I mean that I agree with a lot of what she says or at least find it her claims plausable to some degree. With some of her other claims, however, my mind just sort of shut off and glazed over that material. There were a few times when I realized I was shutting it out and went back to reread it only to find myself shaking my head.
At the end of the day, I have a lot of respect for Shirley MacLaine. She is an amazing actress and she sticks by her beliefs no matter how much she gets ridiculed for it at times. I also respect her curiosity and how, when she's not acting, she's learning about herself and about the beliefs of those all around the world- at times actually going to the places to learn from them first hand.

Listened to this during my travels this summer. I really enjoyed it, especially at the beginning. She is very spiritual and has a lot of beliefs that I am skeptical about (such as reincarnation and UFOs) - she explains them is a way that is accessible and made me think, "Hmmm...maybe?!?" However, later in the book it becomes clear she lives her life through these beliefs and they're a part of her everyday life, which was odd for me. But I really loved her stories, especially since she read the book for the audiobook :)

Honestly, not her best but I can't help reading her - she's like an old, slightly self-centered, very offbeat and a little flaky but endearing old friend. Just guessing on the date I read this book. It was either late spring or early summer, I think.
