This felt like reading about 5 books in one. It moved the main story forward while also running multiple side stories. I really enjoyed it but at times was tough going to keep up with the intertwined side plots.

Compared to the rest of the series, I enjoyed some of the others throughout the reads. It's hard to ever say anything bad about Stephen King and it's still an excellent book. At the same time it's hard not to compare it to the rest of the Dark Tower series. Overall, I felt it was an excellent addition to the series and the very ending makes the entire read worthwhile.

What struck me this time around is just how easy it would have been for King to finish the series in a conventional way. To have the road to the Dark Tower go through a series of nice, neat, satisfying, gradually escalating battles with the forces of darkness until the quest reached its end.

Instead the hard left in the books final pages and all that set in motion. King set himself on a much grander, ambitious and treacherous path. It wasn't nice, wasn't neat and it's not always satisfying. But damn, you just have to admire it.

What can you say, except, Thankee Sai?

It was a good book, yet it felt a bit independent from the main Dark Tower plot with only a minor amount of progress in that story.

A good read and satisfying story, with a cliffhanger ending to get you onto the next installment. (By satisfying, I mean the story has realistic main characters, enough complexity, good pace and a tense build-up to the final scenes.)

Finally had the time to sit down and power through the last 200 pages of this and good lord Stephen King just thinks unlike anyone else. This absolutely rocked and the ending is so insane I can’t wait to finish the rest of the series.
