Is this a 1 star book? Probably not. But I could not get through this book and was rolling my eyes at almost every page.

Endless essays and unnatural not flowing conversations about empowering women and misogyny that should have been written differently in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong these are important topics that need to be discussed, especially in the romance genre where situations in which a man is misogynistic or “demanding” can often be portrayed as romantic. Howeverrrr, not in this way. This is a romance not an essay.

Then the secret that is obviously going to blow up and temporarily end their relationship. Funny how he is the one that was clearly in the wrong but she ends up being the one to apologize.

I skimmed through the last half because I just couldn’t be bothered and wasn’t interested in knowing all the details.

imo she took the easy way out like <let josh live like don’t kill him at the start (it’s not a spoiler it’s literally in the first chapter)>. it would be sm more satisfying if she did that and then had him witness everything go down w jameson and be like — damn. i cant believe i let this wonderful person slip through my fingers YKKKK

This book was nothing but a waste of my time tbh. I skipped from 38% to 63% and literally nothing changed. The plot was leading nowhere and the H was infuriating. He left the h for 14 years and is now back in her life, making demands like he hasn't kept secrets from her. He was the one who should've grovelled since the very beginning but in the end, he gets mad at the h for leaving him when he kept a big secret from her all while she was asking him about the same.
Spoiler He wasn't even a good guardian to his neice. For example , her sleazy uncle was asking her to kiss him and the H did nothing to put a stop to it when it was obvious that Stella was uncomfortable. Then he hired a new uptight old ass nanny who berated her for being spoiled, instead of firing the nanny immediately, he took her side. Then there was an issue at her school where Stella got harassed by her bully and instead of applauding her for standing up for herself, he accused Petra of putting these kind of ideas in Stella's head. He made her go through so many difficult and shitty situations and if Petra wasn't there, he would've done nothing about it.
Stella was the only good thing in this book. Both the main character were just plain annoying tbh.

Tropes:
Childhood romance
Enemies to lovers
Secret Marriage

Spice:3/5
Petra is a strong feminist who doesn’t let anyone or anything get in her way, after tragedy struck her and Sasha broke her heart when they were younger she swore off commitment forever. Sasha always blamed himself for what happened but never let her go, after 14 years apart they finally come face to face under some news they can’t believe themselves. This book was a whirlwind of emotions, will Sasha’s secret push Petra past her limits??
