"You can call a rose something else but it remains yet a rose. A rose is a rose, even by another name. But we choose if we will offer beauty to the world or use our thorns to sting. "

Our Violent Ends

I was hesitant to read this duology since classic retellings can be hit or miss. However, with both books I was pleasantly surprised. The author did a fantastic job at creating a new story that was intriguing and mixing in the plot and themes of the famous Romeo and Juliet. To say this book had me in the feels would be an understatement. This one is part love story, family drama, mafioso, and action packed. I'll definitely be thinking about this one for awhile!

I found this a nice way to finish the story arc. I still have questions about how the whole "evil monsters" worked, because nothing made sense in the regard. But it was enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book much more than the first one, with a fast-pacing and multiple things happening simultaneously. As I said previously I loved the side characters like Celia and Alisa, as well as the side plots (the romance between Benedikt and Marshall was exquisite).

Overall I can’t wait to read the sequel coming out soon.
