I'm still processing this book, but here are some off-the-cuff thoughts.
Mockingjay produced the same feelings in me that Deathly Hallows did, maybe because of the big changes in setting and character motive from the previous books. It was brilliant, but not quite what I expected. Still, everything unfolded in a way that was satisfying and made sense, and was true to Katniss's character. "If we burn, you burn with us" gave me chills. I think she's one of the most amazing fictional heroines ever.
Haymitch has always been one of my favorite characters. I wish he had stayed sober, but the fact that he didn't was one of the things that kept the ending from being too perfectly happy.
The Peeta stuff was done well, and although I wasn't firmly on either team, I was glad she chose him and liked her reasoning.
I loved the book of the dead, too.
