I can see why people feel eh about this one cause there’s not a lot of direction to the story so it’s hard to get excited about anything but I didn’t find it that boring and was mostly enjoying it

unfortunately the whole thing is marred by mat being repeatedly raped and assaulted for the last third of the book. I can’t tell how Jordan meant to write this cause on one hand it gets treated as a joke but then there are really sobering moments that make it seem like it’s supposed to be some sort of commentary? either way I think it was poorly handled

I'm running out of things to say about these books and just consistently repeating that they get better and better. I really couldn't put this one down. There were a couple of cringy moments, unfortunately, which I've heard is a bit of a problem in these books but haven't really felt it myself until now. It sort of is what it is, but overall this book had excellent pacing, was super exciting, and I appreciated that it brought the women to the forefront for the vast majority of the book!

Okay, so here's the thing: on top of my 8 hour/day work I have my university studies, and a huge exam is coming up in december or january.
I really don't have time to read anything, and this book was the biggest victim of it.
I've speed read most of it (I only had 10-20 minutes when I had a day where I could read), and that took my enjoyment out of it. Although I still think this is hugely overwritten, I swear to myself that the next book I'll read in this series, I'll read it normally, word by word.
So that's that. Not much happened in this book, at least in my opinion, so I wonder how the story will follow. One thing I especially hated was the part where the queen forced herself on Mat. That was handled very badly, aged very badly, and the part where Elayne and the others get to know the truth was handled worse...
Apart from this, I do hope Rand will cleanse saidin now, because at this point it's insane he haven't done it yet.
Also what the hell was that scene with Nynaeve and Lan? ugh...

Rand accompanied by Asha'man, attacks Illian and defeats Sammael in a duel in Shadar Logoth. Egwene finds Lan and sends him to help Nynaeve in Ebou Dar. Elayne, Nynaeve, and Mat search for the Bowl of the Winds, to break the unnatural heat brought on by the Dark One. They are accompained by Aviendha, Thom, Juilin, and Birgitte. They find it and enlist the help of the Kin and Sea Folk.

Some things I just can’t look past even though I want to. On top of that, the way warders are viewed and treated by aes sedai is making me feel really uncomfortable…
