First Impression: Dangerous Girls completely and utterly messed with my head. A serious mind-fuck. I actually did not see that VERY SHOCKING plot twist coming.
SpoilerShe really had me going throughout the ENTIRE book. I was rooting for her. Jesus Christ, I feel rather betrayed but I'm also in awe at how good of a liar she is.
Dangerous Girls is such an awesome book and I would, rather forcefully, encourage you give it a go. I'll be reading [b:Dangerous Boys|19732381|Dangerous Boys|Abigail Haas|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1401967915s/19732381.jpg|27789580] soon.

Review: Anna's best friend Elise is brutally murdered whilst they're on a spring break trip to Aruba with a group of close friends. Anna becomes the prime suspect and is soon locked up in a foreign prison, fighting for her freedom. Both family and friends, along with the rest of the world, is questioning Anna's innocence and thinks she's a dangerous psychopath.

I went into Dangerous Girls with high expectations and it met them ALL. Suspense and mystery, romance and MURDER. Dangerous Girls is so cleverly plotted and very well executed that it's a definite mind-fuck of a book. By the end, you throw away ALL of your assumptions you had throughout the book -- throw them out the window, then go burn them -- because it turns everything on its head and it something that you probably didn't see coming. Or maybe you did. I suspected it but quickly discarded it.

A very entertaining and addictive book, I must say.

Now, I'll talk about the ever complex, mysterious characters. Firstly, Elise. Whilst I wasn't a fan of her at times, I deeply admired the relationship she had with Anna. They were the bestest of friends and that I really enjoyed.
SpoilerElise was obsessed with Anna, in love with her, but also DOWNRIGHT TRAITOROUS. But, oh yeah, so was Anna, who BRUTALLY MURDERED HER BEST FRIEND. Anna is a cold-blooded killer, who stabbed her best friend 13 times in the chest and I'm ashamed to say I actually LOVE her as a character.
I don't really know what to say about Anna, other than she is a really complex character who you really do empathise with and also, I LOVE UNRELIABLE NARRATORS. I don't want to spoil it so just go read it for yourself.

I disliked Tate from the start, to be quite honest, and knew he wasn't the nicest of guys. The supporting character were irritating, but necessary, and still very much well developed.

Overall, a really awesome book that I plan on reading again. It's a dark and twisted psychological thriller, so don't brush it off as some other clichéd YA contemporary because it's SO MUCH MORE. It's so multi-layered and developed and clever and shocking. It's a book you'll continue to think about days after you've read it. It's so under appreciated. Please, go do yourself a favour and go read it.

Fantastic.

Anna, and her best friend Elise and boyfriend Tate, along with a couple of other friends go on a trip to Aruba for spring break. They are having a blast, but it is soon cut short when Elise is brutally murdered. And the finger is being pointed at Anna. Anna is in prison and on trial for the murder of Elise, and she is fighting fiercely for her freedom.

Caught me completely off guard. I preferred it to Dangerous Boys - But I still recommend you pick up both up. Abigail Haas has a talent for creating such suspense, and a way for creating such frustration in the reader. Brill!

I got a ARC for Dangerous Boys earlier in the year, and I loved it. It was such a roller coaster ride with a shocking twist that left your mind reeling. After having read Dangerous Girls, I must say the latter is my favourite.

From reviews I read, the main way people describe this book, is 'mind-fuck', and I have to say I wholeheartedly agree. It is a thrilling ride right from the start. I have never read a book that has got me so frustrated at EVERY single character, or so frustrated at trying to figure out who the hell did it! The mystery is fantastic.
SpoilerI was so busy looking at everyone else, I didn't for a minute even think Anna actually did it. She is a fantastic liar and one hell of a protagonist.
For those who haven't read Dangerous Boys, don't click this -
SpoilerI think, after the twist in Dangerous Boys, I just didn't even think to look at Anna, because I didn't think she would use the same plot twist, yet it was changed up a bit - but I wasn't at all disappointed, and it actually increased my enjoyment of the book.

The character were so well developed, yet they were so awful, but I loved it. I loved every minute of hating these completely realistic teenagers.

This isn't really much of a coherent review, and I don't really want to say anything else, because I don't want to spoil anything!

If you are a fan of books like Gone Girl, and We Were Liars then this is a book you do not want to miss out on. Seriously. Go pick it up.

Felt predictable and dull - two things I never want to say about a book about toxic homoerotic friendship.

Hope is a dangerous thing, but pity is even trickier. The only person truly innocent from this entire situation turned out to be... me.

Note: This was my first YA thriller.

I completely devoured this book. I would've finished it one sitting if I didn't have to read it in between classes at work.

The plot twist is a little predictable - but very fitting - and at times it's a bit hard to relate to the characters but what kept me going was the writing. I really enjoyed the author's style and prose. Her use of flashbacks allowed a behind the scenes look at Anna and Elise's friendship. The author also knew how to keep the pace steady but mysterious.

What I liked the most about the book was sort of how meta is was. For example, digging for isolating incidents can make everyone seem guilty (see: "One moment. One picture. One glimpse—that’s all it takes to make someone think they know the truth.") or how one displays themselves can sway people into believe certain things or sympathize with them. I know this sounds weird but definitely makes sense once you've read the book. This is especially true with the book being told from Anna's point of view - excellent choice on the author as she selects words perfectly.

I wish we got to see the murder unfold , to answer some of my questions, but I guess that defeats the purpose of the book.

The book itself I think is a little over hyped, but a good way to get out of a reading slump as it's a very quick, simple but interesting read.

Yo, what the fuck? I have no idea what to believe anymore. Damn you, unreliable narrators :(. I think this book is (purposely?) reminiscent of the Amanda Knox case, with the negative portrayal of young women in different countries by the media, and using them as a scapegoat. In fact, some parts are pretty much exact - criticising her reaction after the death, sensationalising her interactions with her boyfriend, and the intense trial by media. It also reminds me of the Natalee Holloway case that happened in Aruba, and the influence wealth has on ‘innocence’. The book itself had some continuity errors, I think, and I really hated the way that Tate was seen as the shifting force in Anna’s life. Also wasn’t too keen on the dubious queer undertones between Anna and Elise’s friendship - I wish it was either explicit and intentionally present or not there at all. But overall, this was a solid read with a good amount of tension, and it draws attention to the injustices of criminal law that are so often hidden.
