3.5 Stars.
Intriguing, but emotionally it didn't quite live up to the first one to me. And I thought the reveal behind the background story wasn't very exciting, but maybe that's part of the point. I did enjoy getting to see Murderbot interact with other constructs and bots. Will definitely read the next book and I'm looking forward to seeing Murderbot hopefully reunite with their crew from the original.
And now I knew why I hadn’t wanted to do this. It would make it harder for me to pretend not to be a person.

Murderbot is still the best. And ART is a suitably awesome companion to him. Still charming, still a great story, just didn’t quite dazzle me as much as the first one.

I think the series really finds it’s footing here, or perhaps I’ve just started to “get it” more. A wonderfully executed character study of social anxiety and burgeoning self-actualization, tempered by whiz bang pow sci-fi action. It’s great. Consider me a convert.

I found this a bit more confusing than Book 1 as I wasn't always entirely sure what was going on, so it could have been a 3 star read, but I had to boost it to 4 purely for ART. The banter between ART and Murderbot was brilliant.
