I don’t read many murder-mystery novels but this one was great! The flaws and interior lives of the characters drove the plot, and while the framing device seemed a little unnecessary, the main mystery was compelling!

cross-posted from Goodreads:  I really, really enjoyed this one! I think about 75% of that enjoyment came from the incredible audiobook narrator, Joanne Froggatt (best known for her role as Anna Bates in Downton Abbey). The story itself was pretty good, and kept me on my toes. The characters were likable, if a bit basic. All in all a great experience.

Hooked me almost from the beginning which has been hard to do recently! Loves the queer representation.

I feel like Tallulah was the only character truly interesting to follow. I was mostly bored whenever Sophie's POV was happening. It would've probably been better if it would've been shorter, or written more "compact". The story dragged on when there was nothing more to tell. At least the writing was good.

Lisa Jewell takes the reader on an mysterious ride where she flashes between past and present events. A young mother and her boyfriend go missing with no tracks or accounts of where they went. While the woman’s mother, Kim goes on the hunt for her. This book took me a while to get into it, but once it got to about the halfway point I could not put it down. I was so curious about what was going on and what was going to happen next. It definitely gave me anxiety and made me feel sad for some of the characters.
