Mysterious thriller with so many twists and turns! Every chapter gives you a little hint to keep you engaged throughout. I feel thay beginning started slow but it definitely all comes together at the end. Total recommendation!

cross-posted from Goodreads:  I really, really enjoyed this one! I think about 75% of that enjoyment came from the incredible audiobook narrator, Joanne Froggatt (best known for her role as Anna Bates in Downton Abbey). The story itself was pretty good, and kept me on my toes. The characters were likable, if a bit basic. All in all a great experience.

A young girl and her boyfriend go missing after being out with friends, leaving behind their baby to be taken care of by his grandmother.

A writer moves into a college with her boyfriend - who is the new head teacher at the school. Paths collide, writer gets curious about missing couple.

I’ve read other books by this author and while they’re never 5/5 stars for me just due to the writing style, I usually find them fairly interesting. However, something about this book could not keep my attention. I wasn’t interested in the story, couldn’t care less about the characters, and honestly kind of predicted the ending about halfway through the book.

There was a lot going on and a lot of jumps in time, but even switching perspectives didn’t make me want to pay close attention. I read it all, but I wouldn’t read it again.

Lisa Jewell takes the reader on an mysterious ride where she flashes between past and present events. A young mother and her boyfriend go missing with no tracks or accounts of where they went. While the woman’s mother, Kim goes on the hunt for her. This book took me a while to get into it, but once it got to about the halfway point I could not put it down. I was so curious about what was going on and what was going to happen next. It definitely gave me anxiety and made me feel sad for some of the characters.
