Excellent collection of interconnected stories that had me stopping to take some deep breaths as they brought up things from my own past related to family, childhood and mental illness. Just what I like from a book of short stories!

What a wonderful little story collection. All the stories center on the character Soma, and take place in different chapters of her life from childhood to adulthood. Some of the stories are like prose poems, some of them are more traditional in structure, which I think is really cool because we all have the weird and poetic inside of us. The themes of family, especially between women but also across gender, are really strong. I especially loved 'Who You Start With is Who You Finish With,' which tracks the separate yet completely intertwined stories of Soma and her grandmother Charna. There's siblings, queerness, trauma, Facebook, and gorgeous imagery. Highly recommend this read! Loving what Book*hug is doing and thank them for the review copy (opinions are my own).
