I gave up with this book around the 40% mark.

I did enjoy the thought of the overall plot but it was just too slow burning for me. The first quarter or so was just repetitive with little progression.

I didn't particilarly connect with any of the narrative voices,.with perhaps the exception of Kim who I sympathised with but not enough to keep pushing on with the rest of the book.

The narrative voices sort of worked in parallel but they were all set at similar times and they all just sounded the same.. None of them were overly unique from each other and at times I had to go back and remind myself who I was reading about.

Normally if I do not finish I would skip to the end to see who did what and what happened but I just wasn't invested enough.

this book is okay I guess. nothing jaw dropping as I was initially expecting from all the 5 star reviews I had read. it is too long in my opinion and it drags a lot especially at the start. the chapters are short though and the narration style kept me interested enough. I just expected something… more (?). the last part of the book -with all the twists and revelations- felt very underwhelming and predictable. the author really made those characters weird and kept me questioning everyone, even the good ones sometimes, overthinking of all possible  scenarios and twists, only for the story to have some of the most obvious answers. it’s easy to read though and has suspense so maybe a good choice in some cases.

4.25 stars! okay that narrator for the audiobook was actually really good! I liked how she didn’t sound weird when she changed her voice for the characters which I’m kinda peculiar about lol the plot had me hooked and was nicely paced!

Good story. Fast paced and an easy read. Better than most mystery/thrillers these days.

After the first hundred pages, I couldn’t put it down. Kept me wanting to find out more, but without the usual cringe cliffhangers at the end of each chapter. Ending was great and not predictable. I did not see a kidnapping as part of this story.
