Pretty bad first impression of Allende. She could've chosen to make it a story of the desaparecidos OR a love story, or at least have done it more tastefully. I nearly gave up on this/vomited at sex scene #1.

Also, it was almost ridicule to write about a Spaniard who pledged to never wear socks until Franco died or was overthrown... And then choose to call his son... Francisco.
