Fast-paced romp with murderous, apple loving yetis rampaging through ski resort. A lady anthropologist gets slapped for correcting the yeti hunter, and someone calls their dog a whore, but the scenery is beautiful and heads get ripped off, so good fun.

horror, Bigfoot, remote locations, mountain setting
Bigfoot! Need I say more? Okay, people (a Native American and a white dude, separately) following or hunting Bigfoot. Bigfoot getting pissed off at humans. Stones get thrown! Heads roll!
This was a fun read, but it took me AGES to finish. Just to put into perspective how long it takes me to read physical books at the moment: this 230 page book took me 1.5 months to read. I would literally not finish any books right now if it weren’t for audiobooks…
Anyways, this is a book from the 1970s, but it had way less slurs, misogyny or other problematic stuff that I thought. The “Indian’s” perspective was not without its clichés, but I feared for much worse. Can’t speak for whether this was offensive or not, but I know this used quite a few stereotypes.
Anyways, the white dude hunting Bigfoot is a hot-headed one, but not too annoying. I liked the humor in this, and that it didn’t get too over the top. The scenario felt realistic, if that’s even a word I should use for a Bigfoot story haha.
I loved the mountain setting, then a snowstorm, nice. Pretty good climax with lots of Bigfoot action, and a good ending too! Very happy with this!

Enjoyable if somewhat a bit of a slow burn towards the end! I felt like all the action and gore was at the start and tailed off towards the end.

If you would've said, "Hey Rich! We know you love horror, so how about a novel about disfigured Bigfoot, an insane Indian, helicopter crashes, being trapped at a ski lodge, and something about a spirit journey?" I probably would've laughed at you.
I was wrong. This book fucking delivers. Long live 80's Pulp Horror.

It took a while for me to get into this one, but it ended up being a fun read. Who knew Harry from Harry and the Hendersons could be so mean?
