This had similar vibes and story arch to Eleanor Oliphant and Eileen.

It is an interesting book. It summarises adulthood a lot, especially for an anxious and introverted person.

Lauded for its depiction of female rage, The New Me is a curdling force of anxiety, vicious and grim and clenched. Not an enjoyable read, per se, but an evocative transmission from entry-level adulthood.

This is a depressing book, the main character is a mess, you won't like her, but you may see parts of yourself in her. I listened to the audiobook while tidying my house and doing chores, I don't think I'd have enjoyed it as much had I read it as there was something that made this feel as if it was written to be read out loud.

this book made me feel like shit and i’m not sure that – being the hopeless idealist that i am – i liked it. needless to say this probably is how i’m gonna end up in five years’ time so i better brace myself i guess.
