Oh man it's been a minute since I read a John Sandford novel. I forgot how much my pulse races and my heart pounds, the tensions in his novels are so real to me. As usual with this series, Broken Prey is very much a book of it's time. Published in 2006, cultural norms were much different than they are now. I admit, there's a lot of nostalgia playing a role in my enjoyment of this series.

action packed. One of the best action scenes I have read in a while when patients of a mental hospital run rampant.

The first in the series with some completely unbelievable, Hannibal Lecter type serial killing action going on. Still bloody entertaining though.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for every one of these. Love them all. Lucas and his band of merry men have broken up but it's still a great series.

Richard Ferrone does such an amazing job I'd feel cheated if I had to read one of these instead of listening to him narrate.

Thin on an idea, so way too drawn out, seems like it was written just to get another davenport book on the market.
