If I don’t consider the casual sexism, racism, and classism that was seemingly accepted when this was written, this book is a gem! There is no one who writes mysteries like Agatha Christie and Hercules Poirot can solve the wildest crimes! Which, luckily for us, requires some incredibly creative writing to come up with new stories and possibilities!

Book twenty-seven in my personal read through of Agatha Christie in (American) publication order.

This is a very clever story. I rather regret having watched the movie so recently as to remove all sense of mystery or tension from the unfolding of events.

Highly recommended if you have not experienced the story before, and definitely avoid spoilers!

It shouldn’t have surprised me that I liked this book way more that I thought I would. But Christie isn’t named the queen of mystery for nothing . I was partially right about the ending which was fun. Overall it’s a great read , the set up in the first third takes a little bit but overall it moves quickly.

I just wish the "Pride and Prejudice but Mister Darcy is a bitch and also a communist" story line would have worked out :/

Agatha Christie books are always a great time, and Death on the Nile is no exception. It was a tad bit predictable in the sense that you could make a good guess as to who the murderer was, but it still keeps you reading until the end. Overall just a very fun read.

When Hercule Poirot finds himself on a barge down the Nile with a simmering love triangle, he cannot stop it before the situation explodes into murder.

This is my second read of this book, though my first was some time ago, so fresher on my mind was the middling film adaptation. The book proves itself superior to the film of course, and holds up well on reread as well, as the motley cast of side characters introduced themselves to me with greater depth this time round. And the solution to the case is, of course, a cracker.

The audiobook is narrated by David Suchet. Though I found the voices he chose for supporting cast rather silly at times, it makes for a fun listen, and his Poirot is wonderful.
