I read this when I was really little. All I remembered was what the cover looked like and that I liked it.

The Catwings books by Sci Fi author Ursula K. Le Guin is a children's fantasy series about a family of flying cats that Le Guin wrote. Catwings Return is the 2nd book in the series and is a cute as the 1st book. The four children of Mother Cat had left their home under the dumpster at mother's behest and at the start of #2 have settled in at a farm in the country and are loved and looked after by two young children, Hank and Susan. They live in an old pigeon roost, away from any other humans.

James and Harriet want to visit their mother in the city to let her know that they are safe and well - cared for. Thelma and Roger decide to stay at the farm. When James and Harriet finally arrive at their old home, they discover that it's been destroyed as the city is being rebuilt. Surprised, they find a black kitten hiding there and lo and behold, it also has wings. The kitten has been abandoned and the two cats befriend it and take it to try and find their mother.

Of course I won't ruin the ending. Suffice it to say, I think young children might find the story fun to read. There are enough wonderful drawings by S.D. Schindler to help picture the cats. It's short, 48 pages, and is a happy adventure for kids to enjoy. I've ordered the remaining two books to see how their adventures end. Enjoy. (3.5 stars)

My 3 and 4 year olds love the first Catwings book and this one was a great continuation of the story.
