I was put off by the unexpected seemingly preoccupation with sexual events. The book is littered with them and they pop up at various points without warning or preamble. 

Also, there are references to inappropriate sexual grooming of a minor. Trigger warnings were not flagged on the version of the audiobook that I used and I think that these would have been helpful warnings.

Got approximately 2/3rds of the way through but simply got bored of the grubby descriptions of dogging, masturbation and ejaculate which peppered the otherwise interesting descriptions of Slater’s childhood and food descriptions.

Such an honest and joyful memoir through the lenses of food. Everything else happening in Nigel's life appears to be an additional extra in comparison to the food he describes with such admiration and feeling. Quite comical.
