Should have finished the iron fey series at Iron Knight, this spin off is ok but not great

I like this one better than the other Iron Fey books and I thinks it's because I absolutely love Ethan as a protagonist. He's got such a new look towards the Fey and such a different life than Meghan. The girl in this story, Kenzie, is balsy and sure of herself, but she's a good match for Ethan who isn't a lovely, cuddly, little boy with curls anymore.
I love the fact that he practices some kind of martial arts, because that has always fascinated me. Maybe if I had the guts and the fighting skills, I would have had the same hobby as Ethan. I've always regretted that I didn't start martial arts when I was younger.
When I think about Ethan and Todd, I keep picturing the two guys from "Never Back Down", with Brian, the bully, being the bad guy from the movie. Never Back Down is one of my favourite movies, so that's definetely not a bad reference!
I also really like the fact that some characters were able to surprise me during the story. They didn't always react to certain situations they way I thought they would.
Overall, these characters were far more appealing to me than the ones in the other Iron Fey books. Somehow I couldn't make a connection with Meghan and Ash, not they way I connected with Ethan and Kenzie. Maybe it's because they are human and Meghan and Ash are Fey? But what about Puck then though? I adore him!
One of my other favourites in The Lost Prince is Razor. He takes the cuteness factor of these books to a whole new level. Can I get me a Razor somewhere? I want one.
My conclusion for this book: I really liked it. It gave a whole new perspective towards the Fey and I think I needed that after four books of Meghan and Ash. It was also a very good decisions to make a spin-off about Ethan! Baby brother all grown up? Seventeen years later? Sounds promising enough to me!

First I'd like to thank Harlequin Teen Australia & NetGalley for sending me a copy in return for an honest review.
Opening my package and holding it in my hands, that's all it took and I was bouncing around in my chair ready for a new adventure. O.M.G it was so, so good to be back in the Nevernever. Being a huge Iron Fey fan I've been absolutely dying to read this since Julie announced it.
I have to admit though it was a little strange reading from Ethan's POV, but after a few pages that feeling disappeared. Ethan's all grown up and now fighting his own battles with the fey, he's turned into one strong, couragious, hunky guy! ;-)
Each letter, every word was written with pure magic, from the very first sentence "My name is Ethan Chase. And I doubt I'll live to see my eighteenth birthday." We meet all the new characters, (one in particular I was excited to meet) also have a few pop ins from our old favourites. We're thrown into chaio's, non stop surprises around every corner. I was absolutely absorbed in this story, I swear my ears have grown half an inch LOL! ;-)
Julie Kagawa has given us another heart pounding fantasy adventure and I for one can't WAIT for book 2 The Traitor Son coming in 2013.
Here's a quote from the book..
"The Nevernever," she murmured, almost to herself. "I'm in the Nevernever. I'm in the freaking Nevernever."
Haha! I think we all feel like this with each iron fey book we read. ;-)

Finally! I was so excited for this book because I want more of the Nevernever. It was as good as I was expecting, but I was kind of disappointed because in the previous books, Julie Kagawa would go beyond that expected border. I liked all of the characters in the book, but I don't love them like I love Ash, Meghan, Puck and Grimalkin. Not yet at least. Kenzie seems to have Meghan's stubbornness and Ethan have that I-can't-do-anything-to-change-her-mind-can-I reaction like Ash's towards Meghan and I think that's really cute. Keirran seems to have his father's desperation in love and Annwyl...is just Annwyl. I hope to see more growth in the characters in the next book because they seem all normal and monotone, unlike Ash's ice-cold stance and Puck's playful attitude.
The plot, on the other hand, is very engaging because I literally can't stop putting the book down once I started page one. Unlike "The Iron King," the beginning of this story seems so fast and firm. The storyline starts with Ethan, a bad boy with a dark past and a special ability to see fairies. He met a half-breed named Todd and a popular girl named Kenzie and his life was never the same again. Todd went missing and it was suspected that he was taken by a new mass of fairies called The Forgotten. Hating to risk his family and his loved ones, Ethan reported this baffling incident to the Iron Queen, and in turn, met Keirran, the Iron Prince and off they secretly went to unravel the mystery together. I was hoping that I could see more of Keirran's Iron-Winter-Summer glamour, combined into one, and that got me quite dissatisfied.
But altogether, I really enjoyed the story and I can't wait for the next book!

Kagawa has done it again. This was amazing and I cannot wait until the second book is in my hands. I thought Kenzie's character was great and her twist in the end was so unexpected. I loved Ethan and the way he opened up throughout the book. Can't wait to see what happens next!!!

Why are Kierran and Ethan so emotional?? I am really disappointed in Megan's choice! Everything could have been different if she didn't separate the two families. Now look what has happened. Smh!
