Lead
4 Stars

Following a stint in rehab, Stage Drive's lead singer, Jimmy Ferris, is forced to endure the presence of a sobriety companion to ensure he doesn't relapse. After "encouraging" several others to quit, Jimmy finally finds his match in Lena Morrissey, a no-nonsense personal assistant, who has no qualms about speaking her mind. As these two strong personalities clash, their relationship evolves into more than simple employer-employee. Can Jimmy and Lena overcome the obstacles to their romance?

A significant improvement on the previous installment. Lena and Jimmy's interactions are a hoot and the fact that Lena is no pushover despite her feelings for Jimmy makes her all the more appealing.

While readers are only privy to Lena's thoughts, Jimmy is somewhat of an enigma. He has obvious feelings for Lena but keeps pushing her away, and it is only once
Spoilershe is gone
that he is able to recognize just how much she means to him.

The secondary cast is great and their support and acceptance of both Jimmy, despite his troubles, and Lena is wonderful. Unlike many reviewers, I am not a fan of Mal as he is just too over the top for me. Nevertheless, he has his moments in this book.

The next book focuses on the bass player, Ben Nicholson, and Anne's (book #2) younger sister, Lizzie Rollins. There are already hints in this book that there is something between them and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

So i thought this was going to be at the same time mal and anne? Because lena already knew jimmy and all that but then it just explains how they met and nothing more? I thought she had been fired in play???? But yeah, this book is after mal and anne get together.

I also was expecting some bdsm with Jimmy to be honest. But nope, none of that. But he is the kind of fucked up that I can relate more easier. I’ve seen people dealing with pain by drinking or fucking themselves up even more. So… yeah. Nice thing that the book actually deals with stuff like that. We see Jimmy go through a big change and that’s really nice.

I liked the drama and the tension a lot more than the others. I liked Lena’s voice. She’s such a strong character.

But the author seems to use the same plot devices all the time. Every goddamn time, they meet, there’s the building up of the romance, explosion with sex, everything seems fine and then it’s not, they separate, they calm themselves down, realize they love each other, go back together to either marry or not. Common, after reading two books, where the storyline is pretty much the same, only the characters and some situations change, it gets boring, you know?

I understand this is a series and some similarities between the books are needed. But do they really need the name storyline? ugh

Yeah, that aside, the sex was a lot better. Gotta love cunnilingus <3

Dear me I loved this book. Did I love it more than Mal's crazy book? Unsure at the moment but they're both really closely tied. There was some super funny moments and some super gut wrenching ones. I STILL have tears in my eyes and I don't know if they were sad ones or from laughing so hard.

I'm super glad that while he struggled with addiction he didn't actually relapse during the book because it made it a lot more positive to me. Sure their relationship isn't 'healthy' but honestly that's what I like about these. They're not perfect couples, there's shit going down and I think this was really perfect.

Lead was such a pleasant surprise since I only read [b:Deep|18461986|Deep (Stage Dive, #4)|Kylie Scott|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1397676461s/18461986.jpg|26116275] and it didn't leave good impression. (Yes I am obviously reading this series in weird order.)
What does Lead have that every contemporary romance should have?
+ Strong, mature heroine.
+ Relationship that is built on attraction and friendship
+ Good idea for a plot (Heroine fights her attraction for hero and he tries to help her to kill her crush.)
+ They don't immediately jump into bed.
+ Banter. (Lenna had a big mouth. She sweared a lot but I didn't mind. She managed to balance between vulgarity and humor well.)
"You know where you can shove that list. And if you need help, let me fetch a rubber glove and some lube and I'll be right with you."
Recomended if you are looking for a nice contemporary romance to read this summer.

1.5 (I hovered between disliking it and thinking it was okay at different points in the book.)

So disappointed.

The writing is incredibly simplistic and the plot and the characters really juvenile. They talked liked they were 15, and there was no insight into the world of being an international rockstar or even into the characters themselves. I'm told Lena likes Jimmy, I'm told Jimmy is super charismatic, I'm told this and told that but there was no showing at all.

I didn't get to know any of the characters, much less the world and lives that they inhabit. Maybe worth reading for an hour to pass the time and you have nothing to do, but that's it.

I loved Lena!!! Granted I thought she was a love sick puppy for awhile but she was trying to leave. Jimmy wouldn't let her. I just freaking loved her personality. She was hilarious. I kind of thought the story took awhile to get to the good stuff but other than that it was really good. Not at all what I was expecting from Jimmy or Lena from what you learn of them in past books. I absolutely adored them. I just wish we got to see them as a couple for longer than the last few minutes of the book. But like most books they get together at the verrrrrry end. I think I would like a book just about them and their relationship. Their bickering was perfection... Exactly like what I would want from a rock n roll god.

On a side note.... Mal is a complete nut job. I mean that was obvious from the last book but yikes. I mean he made me laugh but think about actually being married to him.. Im pretty sure I would constantly be punching him.
